Through all the years, music during the worship services has been led by our organist/pianist/music director. Our present music director, Gerard Willmes, leads his choir of 11 singers, through choral services, including a wide variety of hymns as well as anthems, many of which he composes or arranges himself. Each Sunday is a new and vibrant musical experience!
Our Pipe Organ
Christ Church Anglican has long supported good music. The present building was constructed in 1880 and in 1908 the Breckles and Matthews Company built and installed the pipe organ that continues to be in use to this day. Voiced for the sanctuary, this historic instrument is known for its rich sound.
In 2007, we had the opportunity to purchase a Young Chang grand piano. Both the congregation and the community willingly supported the cause and with the interest from the Margaret Mitchell Trust Fund, the purchase price was raised within a month. Donations were given in memory of individuals to whom music was important.
Christ Church has been the venue for many concerts over the years. With groups such as Friends of Christ Church performing the music from Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas, which has now evolved into a night of music from Broadway and Movies. Christ Church also hosts yearly Christ Church Connections Concerts and Music on the Green, bringing in various performers for evening and afternoon shows.
